Actually, if you've read any books on Hitler's psychological state of mind the British in WWII wrote a report (classified until decades after the war) that pretty much said Hitler believed he was communing with demons.

At first I thought it was poppycock but after reading Shrirer's book on the Third Reich I'm not so sure. There were several assasination attempts on Hitler made by German generals which failed. Faulty detonation caps and scheduling changes saved Hitler again and again.
It was also said that during times of stress Hitler would go into seclusion for long periods of time before emerging with a new 'master plan'.
Another issue I always had trouble with was Hitler's ability to rally people with his words. At times, he would get standing ovations from foreign press (including Allies) for bashing their countries. He would go to feminist groups and declare that they should 'stay in the kitchen' and STILL be given standing ovations.
Something was different about Hitler that's for sure. Was it demon-possession? I rightly don't know.
