he has a point, but he's not portraying the scene completely. there are votes and cabinet seats and funds raised for Hezbollah.
I'm not convinced he's right to isolate Hezbollah as some marginal fringe organization. And if he's wrong, he's using a hell of a lot of passion to sell his bs - watch Pat to run in 2008 on a right-wing isolationist agenda. Bring American jobs back home, yeha!
Interesting Chucker... I must admit, it's Buchanan's position as a right-winger that pricks my ears up to his opposition here. Maybe my surprise took me by storm.
I do feel Hezbollah ought be destroyed. I worry a bit that possible-ally Lebanon could be turned away, I think it's a very delicate balancing act.
Buchanan's passion also really grabbed me.
Cherniak_wft, for the longest time I thought you were Cherniak-WTF, as in WhatTheF***, which would be pretty funny...
The idea was mostly to make fun of him and be gung-ho Liberals while they ate children and raped animals, but - he's so funny all on his own, really.... u can't parody a parody.
given that the dinosaurs in the party don't even have cell phones..
Heh heh... true enough. The whole "official blogs of the Liberals" thing *is* a good idea, I think... but I don't think they'll pull it off.... we'll see.

Chucker - it kills me when you say that one. I love it.
I was watching but halfway through I just kinda gave up.
It almost sounds like he wants the US to completely disengage from the world and let everyone else kill each other off. (which sometimes doesn't seem like a bad idea)
SouthernOntarian - was it Washington or Jefferson who said the United States should avoid entanglements with the affairs of other nations? (I recall a single quote, maybe it was out of context though)
I guess it's not really the route people want, but it sure does seem attractive sometimes, I agree.
Probably both to be honest. After the Revolutionary War the US disbanded its entire navy and almost its entire army.
It got dragged back into engaging the world during the Barbary Wars in the early 1800s when Barbary pirates kidnapped several hundred US merchantmen sailors.
Even if the US disengages from the world, history has taught us that they'll have to 're-engage' soon thereafter.
I know very little about the Barbary Wars, but the parts I do know are fascinating - it's always been framed to me as "Jefferson vs. radical Islamists", which may or may not be true, I don't know -- I've only heard of the Barbary pirates post-Sept 11, and without doing research of my own, I can't tell if people are giving it a proper context or not....

(I like him though - just not president.)

Ahhh, I'd thought it was your initials, but that's funny.
For a while I considered getting a "Chason Jerniak" account and doing a "Jerniak on Politics" blog. Maybe one day.

poor jason cherniak, its not his fault that the media and the Liberal party have made him the Official Star Blogger of the Liberal Party.
